Environment and Countryside leads the management of 5600 acres of country parks and green spaces, 4500km of public rights of way and champions Staffordshire’s natural and cultural heritage. We are leading development of a Local Nature Recovery Strategy, and host the Cannock Chase National Landscape Partnership, supporting our most cherished countryside.

Environment Manager

Development Officer – Rights of Way

Development Officer – Countryside

As Countryside Development Officer you will have a diverse role within Environment and Countryside as someone who thrives on variety. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, you will be involved in a range of site and service development work with a focus on our country parks and green spaces. 

This role is predominantly office-based; the post holder can work flexibly but will be expected to attend occasional site-based meetings in person.

Rights of Way Officer

Countryside Officer
Salary: £29,093 – £34,314

If you have practical countryside skills and ecological knowledge, are able to apply health and safety and legal compliance to land management, have experience of managing projects and contractors and are physically fit and able work outdoors in all weathers, this could be the role for you!

We have three positions available:

One permanent which will require regular weekend working

Two fixed-term for 2 years and will not require regular (but may require occasional) weekend working.

Visitor Engagement Assistant

Salary: £24,790

An opportunity to join the Cannock Chase team based at the Marquis Drive Visitor Centre. The role involves communicating with the public about the wealth of wildlife and historic heritage here and income generation. It is an exciting time for the visitor experience at Cannock Chase, as we are at the start of an investment project to improve our visitor facilities.

You will need experience in a public facing or customer service role and an ability to engage the public with how unique Cannock Chase is for wildlife and historical heritage.
