How does a normal day start? With email checks before checking the calendar to see what lies ahead! Some days are busy; some days are quiet, but NEVER boring!

What is your role? I’m responsible for communicating with learners for the learning hub ensuring everyone can have access to the modules and courses available.

As a Business Support Administrator I communicate with a variety of people to make sure everything is running smoothly with learning and communicating with internal and external bodies.

Why did you join Staffordshire County Council? I was stuck in a dead-end job with no progression and needed more. I got the interview for this on the day I was supposed to go to London, but it got cancelled. So, I guess you can call it FATE!

What might people not know about working in the council? How chill everyone is and how relaxing it is to work here! I’ve never felt so relaxed and supported!

What does your typical day look like? Usually involves communicating with a variety of people and making sure they are able to access the learning they need as well as resolving any issues regarding the learning hub, School Bag ebulletin, and the Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism.

What is the worst part of your job? How noisy it can get for me some days, especially when the fire alarm goes off! But the majority of the time it’s actually surprisingly quiet!

What is the best part of your job? Is the people. I’ve met so many characteristic people and they’re all so supportive and understanding of my difficulties. I feel safe being open to people and allowing myself to be vulnerable and not having to hide my true self.

What would you be doing if you didn’t work here? I’d remain stuck in one place with no progression in my career or any clue with what I want to do, unable to see my future.

What advice would you give someone considering a career in business administration (BEST)? Be yourself and allow your personality to run free! You’ll be around people who will admire you!
