Matt says: “Never under estimate the impact you can make on peoples lives”
How does a normal day start? After the usual 5.30-6am run or walk which gives me time to reflect, re-energise and restore…..the day starts with a cuppa tea and one or two (sometimes three!) digestive biscuits (with chocolate of course 😊) And having the flexibility to work from home, pending any meetings, I set up my workstation at home, ready to start the day.
Why did you join Staffordshire County Council? I joined Staffordshire County Council, not just for its employee benefits, but to be able to be a part of a team with purpose, and to make a difference in people’s lives.
What is your role? I’m a Projects and Improvement Manager. I am part of a centralised team, driving and co-ordinating positive change and enhancing the quality of services provided through the Children and Families Service.
What do you do in your role? No one day is the same! My role spans from; hosting and coordination of the Children and Families intranet; to coordination of policies and procedures; coordination, monitoring and quality assurance of Children and Families improvement activity (Systems and Processes Board), linking reporting and improvement activity, supporting development activities, and coaching to support colleagues in the delivery in a best practice way, being a critical friend.
What’s been your most memorable moment so far? That would be supporting the Voice Project team in making over 200 badges and key rings for the Foster Carers Day. That gave me a chance to meet many of the families we support, where we could get connected and have really meaningful chats – making a difference to their day 😊
What would you be doing if you didn’t work here? If I didn’t do this, as a drummer I’d probably be fulfilling my music career full time.
What advice would you give someone considering a career with Staffordshire County Council? In Project management, don’t underestimate the impact that you’ll make on the people around you, every day!
